What RET does
RET transports more than 600,000 passengers every day in and around Rotterdam. With around 3000 employees (full-time and freelance), the company is responsible for transporting 185.7 million passengers per year. These consist of residents, commuters and tourists of which 38.7 million travel by bus, 59.9 million by tram and 87.1 million by metro.
RET services are for daily use: to travel to work and school, to go to the shops and to visit the family doctor or specialist. But also to go out in the evening and to take you home again in the early hours of the morning.
Bus, tram, metro, Fast Ferry
Since its creation in 1878, RET has grown considerably. We now have 34 bus lines, 8 tram lines, 2 metro/fast-tram lines and the Erasmus RandstadRail-line. This network is served by a fleet of 238 busses, 118 trams and 152 metro trains. And, since the summer of 2008, we also transport our passengers over water. The
Nieuwe Prins is the name of the new RET-Fast Ferry. This fast vessel links the Hook of Holland with a number of destinations on the Maasvlakte (a large industrial area constructed in the North Sea).
